Giving in the Season of Getting

Thanksgiving and Christmas come around every year and still they seem to take most by surprise. With most shoppers doing their gift shopping the last week before Christmas stores get flooded with panicked people, items get backordered, and new years resolutions are made to finish all shopping by October of next year...which doesn't happen.

We know you want to give, but sometimes you feel like after your long list of kids, spouse, nieces, nephews and grandchildren, how could you ever have enough money left over to give to those in need?

So for those of you who need it, here is a list of what's happening in this next week, and what you can do to fulfill your part in supporting your local nonprofit.

  1. Black Friday - The infamous day of sales and shopping that has people camping out for days waiting for the next iPhone or newest gaming console.

  2. Click HERE to set your AmazonSmile account to a non-profit of your choice, this link will make it Pharaoh's Daughter but you can change it to whatever stirs your heart.

  3. If you're looking to shop more ethically and looking to support a nonprofit that places orphans in loving families, try shopping at local-to-NC, Pharaoh's DaughterS (notice the plural?). Check out their shop HERE!

  4. Small Business Saturday - Go out and help your local business, support local economic growth, and grab something yummy or fun!

  5. Cyber Monday - This is where all online shopping hits an all time high. Again, we suggest logging into your amazon and partnering with Pharaoh's Daughter.

  6. Giving Tuesday - Here's a snippet from their website:

"Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources."

We are, in fact, listed on the website at and if you give to us on this day through facebook Bill and Melinda Gates will match it up to 2 million (for all facebook donations to all nonprofits and charities).

So get that handy dandy computer out and start making some plans! We can't wait to see what you come up with.
